A Lovely Day

Mom's funeral was Saturday. It was a lovely day. Not too much crying, and a whole lot of appreciation for who she was. It was so great to see so many friends and family. It was like one big reunion. The music was perfect. Kenneth Noble sang "As I Have Loved You" with the granddaughters singing back up. Wow! Mom asked him to sing at her funeral 30 years ago. She was so prepared for everything. Everything except lung cancer. I can't imagine anyone putting themselves at risk for this horrible disease. PLEASE DON'T EVER SMOKE! I know that this doesn't guarantee that you will never get lung cancer, but......It was so fun sitting around with my 7 siblings remembering and laughing as we prepared our parts of the program. It was been such a full, amazing week, but I am exhausted. I may sleep for a few days. Dad is still struggling a little, but seems to be coping better everyday. We will all miss her dearly.

Marcy, your mothers funeral was an incredible experience. It is the funeral that sets the standard by which all other funerals will be judged. She would be very proud of all of you, each of you did a wonderful service to her in your tributes. Airing one's grief in public isn't the most enjoyable experience in the world, yet I am glad that each of you chose to make your mother's funeral a community experience because it also allowed us to pay tribute to a great lady. Although none of us feel the grief that each of you must, we all will greatly miss her too. I wish all of my family could have shared the experience with me. I would love to share some pictures with you, but I need an email address. As a matter of fact, can you give me one for Jordan, Lela, and Alayne also?
